You’re a top marksman if you can spot the deadly sniper hiding in this picture

Photographer Simon Menner snapped the photo with the hidden figure

A photographer managed to capture a snap of a deadly sniper hidden from his target, but can you spot him?

If you’re looking for a bit of a challenge this weekend, or perhaps you just want to prove once and for all that you’re a little bit better than your sibling, mate or partner, then this is the page for you.

From optical illusions to apparent glitches in the matrix, there are all sorts of scenes out there which our minds struggle to process, and require a bit of a closer look to really take in everything that’s going on.

Photographer Simon Menner has managed to capture examples of this in his ‘Camouflage’ series, which focused on photographing a number of different environments with one thing in common: there were snipers hidden in every image.

Personally, I’d probably not hang around long enough to take a photo if I knew there was a highly trained shooter in the vicinity – especially if I couldn’t see them – but Menner stood his ground and took the shot.

The camera shot, that is.

In the description for his series, Menner writes on his website: “Even though they are invisible due to their professionalism, there are hidden snipers in every of these images. They are aiming at the camera and therefore at the viewer.”

Menner was able to capture the photos with the help of the German, Lithuanian and Latvian Armies, who supported his photography efforts by granting him ‘generous access to their snipers’.

“I am extremely grateful for the openness I did encounter,” he said.

So, the question is, can you actually make out the sniper in this particular photo?

Can you spot him yet? (Simon Menner)

Menner caught the photo by training his lens in the direction of a tower emerging from a snow-covered landscape. He stood a short distance away under the cover of some trees, but the scene looks otherwise empty.

Obviously, however, we know now that Menner wasn’t alone in the area when the photo was taken.

If your eyesight is particularly good, or you simply utilise that zoom button and really put in the time, you might be able to spot the sniper.

If you still can’t see him, allow me to point him out.

The sniper is actually hidden in the gap in the wall on the second floor of the tower, tucked away in the corner with his gun pointed towards the camera.

He’s not easy to spot, but remember, that’s kind of the whole point…
