My Mother-in-Law Shoved My Parents Into the Pool at My Wedding Then I Ended the Ceremony and Made One Call That Silenced Her Family

I didn’t steal anything.

I want to be very clear about that.

Adrian gave me access to that drive himself. My access was completely authorized. Every single file I opened was logged by Blackwood’s own computer system.

I took what I found to Daniel Cho.

And Daniel hired an independent outside auditing firm. A firm that had no connection to Vale Capital at all. They spent five months verifying every number. Every invoice. Every shell company.

Every single claim held up.

Then Daniel quietly contacted the Securities and Exchange Commission and the FBI’s financial crimes unit in Columbia.

And we prepared what Daniel called the Blackwood protocol. A plan to protect Vale Capital’s investments, and the thousands of Blackwood employees who’d lose everything if those hotels collapsed overnight.

We were going to release it all the week after my wedding.

I was still hoping, deep down, that I’d find out Adrian didn’t know. That it was all Vivian. That the man I loved was innocent.

And then I watched him stand there holding his champagne while my mother almost drowned.

And I decided I didn’t need to wait another week.

Adrian grabbed my wrist. Hard.

“You planned this,” he said through his teeth. “This whole time. You planned this.”

Before I could answer, my father stepped up onto the bandstand.

Water was still dripping from his sleeves. His good shoes squished on the marble. He’s sixty-four. He still walks with a slight limp from the stroke.

He stepped right between me and Adrian.

“Take your hand off my daughter,” my father said.

His voice was very quiet.

Adrian let go.

Vivian pointed a shaking finger at my parents.

“They trapped us! This was their plan from the start! They sent their daughter in to destroy us!”

My mother stepped forward. She was shivering under that white tablecloth. Her wet hair hanging down her back.

“No, Mrs. Blackwood,” my mother said softly. “We came here today to welcome your son into our family.”

Those words silenced the whole terrace.
