When a Young Admirer Wanted to Talk ‘Adult Things,’

Yesterday, I received a friend request from a young, attractive guy who looked about 19 or 20 years old.

Curiosity got the best of me—I wanted to know why someone so young would want to be my friend on Facebook. So, I accepted it.

Almost immediately, he started messaging me.

He called me beautiful and asked my age.

Now, I’m not a liar, so I told him the truth and reminded him that I’m *a bit* older than him. But hey, a little flattery never hurt anyone, so I let him talk.

We chatted for a while, and before long, he asked if we could talk about “adult things.”

I said, “Sure, why not?”

Then he said, “Thank you, babe. You start.”

So I did.

I told him all about my arthritis and how badly my knees hurt some days.

I explained how my back acts up whenever it’s cold outside.

I shared about my insomnia and how it keeps me up at night.

And, of course, I couldn’t leave out my pacemaker—an essential adult topic, right?

Oh, and I made sure to mention my trusty laxatives and my high-quality dentures.

I was as honest as I could be about “adult things,” pouring my heart out.

But for some reason… he blocked me!

I honestly can’t understand why.

Summarize :

Yesterday, I received a surprising friend request on Facebook from a young, attractive guy, likely no older than 19 or 20. Curious about why someone so young would want to connect, I accepted the request. Almost instantly, he messaged me, showering me with compliments and calling me beautiful. He soon asked about my age, and being honest, I told him the truth, casually mentioning that I was a bit older than him. Flattered by his interest and curiosity, I decided to keep the conversation going.

Before long, he expressed a desire to discuss “adult things” and asked if we could dive into that topic. Amused but willing to humor him, I agreed. However, when he asked me to “start,” I decided to take his request very literally.

I launched into a detailed account of my health issues, beginning with my arthritis and how my knees ache on bad days. I shared how my back pain flares up in the cold, how insomnia plagues my nights, and how my pacemaker has become a vital part of my life. For good measure, I threw in the benefits of my trusty laxatives and the high quality of my dentures, leaving no “adult” topic untouched, unmentioned, or overly dramatized. I spared no detail in my enthusiastic effort to connect with him.

Despite my heartfelt and sincere effort to talk about the “adult things” I deal with daily, the young man didn’t seem to appreciate my candor. Before I could even finish sharing all my wisdom, experiences, and insights into the world of grown-up challenges, he blocked me without a word.

I’m still baffled by his reaction. After all, I was just being completely honest and giving him exactly what he asked for—”adult things!” Perhaps he wasn’t ready for the full reality of adulthood, but I certainly didn’t hold back. Let’s just say he got more than he bargained for in our brief but memorable online chat!
