The Star-Spangled Banner” is America’s national anthem. When the song became the hymn in 1931, it was one of the most popular patriotic tunes in America over a hundred years ago.

The words come from a poem written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key. During the War of 1812, Key watched at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland, a night battle between Great Britain and America.

On Wednesday evening, fans of the New York Islanders helped to sing the tunes before the franchise’s victory over the Boston Bruins, making the national anthem a success at the Coliseum Nassau.

Based on news from the New York Post, Nicole Raviv played “The Starn-Spangled Banner” just before the Islanders played the Bruins in Game 6 of their playoff series.

The New Yorker Canadian-born Raviv was an Internet sensation, as a clip from her performance before Game Six of the New York Islanders and the Bruins of the Boston National Anthem.

As shown in a video, Raviv lets the more than 13000 fans in attendance in Hempstead, New York, continue the song by themselves, lowering their mic a few seconds from the start of the anthem.

Raviv sings into the microphone once more as the audience reaches the final verses, creating a decisive moment met with cheers and applause.
