After 25 years together they are saying goodbye. African Grey’s can live 60 to 80+ years. They often outlive their owners. Pet’s do grieve and experience loss too. Animals are concsious sentient beings with feelings. And, for many the death of a beloved pet can turn our lives upside down. For instance, those who experienced trauma in their past, the death of a pet, or loosing a pet can trigger and reignite their past traumatic imprints and memories. We all grieve, we all hurt. At different depths, in different ways, at different speeds. But for those who have experienced trauma in their childhood, and those who have lived alone for most if not all their lives, grief is felt much more deeply. Grief is more painful, it takes longer to process these difficult feelings.
