Pirro: Biden Ends Presidency by Pardoning Hunter After Years of Denial and Lies
During a recent segment on The Five, the co-hosts delved into the implications and motivations behind President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden—a move that has drawn criticism from both sides of the political aisle. Former judge and co-host Jeanine Pirro strongly criticized the pardon, calling it a culmination of years of denial and dishonesty from the president regarding his son’s activities.
Hunter Biden’s pardon covers an 11-year period from January 1, 2014, to December 1, 2024. This timeframe includes his involvement with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma while Joe Biden was vice president and managing U.S.-Ukraine relations under President Barack Obama. Despite having no experience in the energy sector, Hunter reportedly earned millions during his time with the firm, sparking controversy and allegations of influence-peddling that have persisted for years.
“The president has denied and lied from the very beginning,” Pirro said. “Joe Biden started his presidency claiming he knew nothing about his son’s business dealings and now ends it by pardoning him. This shows he’s known all along.”
A Broader Scope of the Pardon
Hunter Biden’s pardon goes beyond the gun and tax charges he was convicted of earlier this year. It also encompasses years when he earned significant income while allegedly engaging in questionable business dealings. According to Pirro, Special Counsel David Weiss, who oversaw Hunter’s case, allowed the statute of limitations to expire on some of Hunter’s highest-earning years, shielding him from further prosecution.
“David Weiss let the statute of limitations run out on the most critical years,” Pirro stated. “These are the years that involved Hunter’s father and his so-called business dealings.”
Pirro criticized the Biden administration for what she called a systematic effort to “cover up” the president’s involvement in Hunter’s affairs. “They’ve denied, they’ve lied, and now, with this pardon, it’s clear they’re hiding something bigger,” she said.
Hunter Biden’s Convictions
Hunter Biden faced two major legal battles earlier this year. He was convicted on charges of lying on a federal form about his drug use while purchasing a firearm, and on nine counts related to failing to pay over $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019. Pirro emphasized that the charges represent serious crimes and criticized the president for shielding his son from accountability.
“They knew jail time was coming for Hunter Biden. He’s been convicted of two felonies—not one, but two. And now Joe Biden pardons him and expects us to believe this isn’t special treatment?” Pirro said.
Claims of Selective Prosecution
Pirro questioned President Biden’s criticism of the justice system, where he claimed his son was unfairly targeted. “If Joe Biden truly believed this was selective prosecution, why didn’t he fire Merrick Garland, his own attorney general?” she asked.
She pointed out the unusual nature of Hunter’s pardon. “Most pardons are for people who’ve served their time and paid their debt to society. But in this case, Hunter wasn’t even sentenced. This isn’t about justice; it’s about protecting his son,” Pirro argued.
Fear of Future Investigations
Pirro suggested the pardon reflects fear within the Biden administration of what a future Justice Department under Donald Trump could uncover. “The bottom line is they’re afraid. They’re afraid of what a Trump-led Justice Department might do—digging into things Weiss didn’t indict Hunter for,” Pirro said.
She added, “Joe Biden claims no one is above the law, yet Hunter Biden is the perfect example of someone who is. This is hypocrisy at its finest.”
Ending with Denial
Pirro concluded her critique by highlighting what she sees as the overarching theme of Joe Biden’s presidency: dishonesty. “Joe Biden started his presidency with lies about his son’s activities, and now he ends it with the ultimate cover-up—a pardon,” she said. “It’s clear he’s been lying all along.”
The pardon has sparked heated debate and scrutiny from political figures and the public, casting a shadow over the final chapter of Biden’s presidency.
