Peruvian Police Use ‘Grinch’ Disguise in Creative Drug Trafficking Bust
The Peruvian National Police recently carried out a bold operation to apprehend drug traffickers, enlisting the help of an officer dressed as the Grinch. This time, the Christmas villain didn’t steal Christmas—he stole the freedom of local criminals.
Footage from the operation shows the officer in full Grinch costume sprinting down a street, wielding a sledgehammer over his shoulder. Upon reaching the targeted residence, the Grinch uses the hammer to smash through the front door, leading a team of officers inside to make multiple arrests.
“In an ingenious operation, agents of the Green Squad arrested individuals known as La Reina del Sur, La Coneja, and Pote, alleged members of the La Mafia de San Bartolo gang, which is involved in drug dealing,” the police explained in a statement shared on X. “Various narcotics were seized.”
Peru is known as a global hub for cocaine production, with much of it being trafficked to South America, Europe, the United States, East Asia, and Mexico, according to the U.S. State Department.
Sharing the video, Fox News commented on X: “MEAN GREEN MACHINE: A Peruvian police officer dressed as the Grinch busted suspected drug traffickers in the South American country’s capital days before Christmas where ‘various narcotics were seized.’”
The operation comes as discussions about combatting drug trafficking remain a hot topic globally. President-elect Donald Trump has strongly advocated for taking down drug cartels, which he argues are major contributors to the drug crisis in America.
“The drug cartels are waging war on America—and it’s now time for America to wage war on the cartels,” Trump stated during a campaign event. “When I am back in the White House, the drug kingpins and vicious traffickers will never sleep soundly again.”

Trump’s Action Plan to Combat Drug Cartels
As part of his strategy to dismantle drug cartels, President-elect Donald Trump has outlined an aggressive action plan, including:
- Restoring Border Security: Reinstate all Trump-era border policies and fully secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
- Naval Embargo: Deploy the U.S. Navy to establish a complete naval embargo, preventing cartels from using regional waters to smuggle drugs into the United States.
- Military and Cyber Operations: Direct the Department of Defense to utilize special forces, cyber warfare, and other covert and overt tactics to target cartel leadership, infrastructure, and operations, delivering maximum damage.
- Terrorist Designation: Officially classify major drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
- Financial Isolation: Cut off cartel access to the global financial system to weaken their funding and operations.
- Regional Cooperation: Work with neighboring governments to dismantle cartels and expose corruption and bribery protecting criminal networks if cooperation is not achieved.
- Stronger Penalties: Push Congress to ensure drug smugglers and traffickers can face the death penalty.
This comprehensive approach is designed to significantly disrupt cartel operations and address the flow of illicit drugs into the United States.
